The prewash cycle

It’s really important that you don’t skip the prewash cycle when washing your cloth nappies. it is essential to rinse through the nappies because they are VERY dirty. The prewash rinses them to flush out the worst before the main wash.

My prewash water, this is why you need to rinse nappies with a prewash first.

Most washing machines will reuse water from a prewash cycle in the main wash. Which is definitely not what you want. Instead it’s best to run a separate ’quick wash’ cycle. Aim for something that lasts around 30 minutes. To cut costs and wear & tear you can do this wash at cold and you don’t need detergent.

After the prewash there is no need to remove the nappies, just select your main wash cycle.
